THE BEST FOODS FOR A HEALTHY AND STRONG MIND/BRAIN(1)
The by far best foods for a healthy brain are the foods containing ample quantities of omega-3 fatty acids and especially EPA (eicosapentanoic acid ) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is the main building block for the construction of our brain tissues. An impressive 60% of our brain is made up of fats .
Low levels of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) have been connected with Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Both of these essential fatty acids must be obtained from the diet.
The best source is wild oily fish as: sardines,tuna,mackerel,herring,salmon,trout etc.
Sardines are excellent because they are the less contaminated with mercury and other heavy metals.
Omega-3 fatty acids are absolutely essential for your children to buid healthy synapses. A possible lack of them might be responsible for attention deficit hyperactivity disorders and learning difficulties.
When you feed your children with junk foods you in fact mortgage their future!
My recommendation: eat 300-400 gr of sardines per week and you will keep your mind sharp to the end!
