CARBOHYDRATES (CARBS) : LIFE AND DEATH UNDER THE SAME ROOF!

We have seen that carbohydrates (carbs) is a big family of macronutrients comprising pure death ( e.g. sugar) as well as pure life: e.g. fibrous vegetables.

We have made the distinction between:

- simple and complex carbs and saw that complex carbs are better for our health.

- starchy and fibrous carbs and extolled the latter.

- low and high glycemic index carbs and stressed the need to eat more  carbs from the former group.

However, the most important distinction among carbs is by far that among natural and processed.

White bread is supposed to contain complex carbs but the flour is so badly processed thay finally it behaves like a simple carb.

Not only white bread has no nutritional value, but additionally it it will harm us. White flour is metabolized almost like sugar.

We need to abstain from prosessed carbs as much as possible. The less processed the better for out health.

To your great health!
