WEIGHT TRAINING: HOW MANY REPETITIONS(REPS) ARE GOOD FOR ME?

Well it depends on your goals!

If you aim for muscle gain a good number is 8 repetitions/set.

But what exactly does this mean?

It means that you must regulate the weights so as to be able to do 8 repetitions with the right technique.
If you see that you can perform e.g. 20 repetitions you should by all means increase the weight.

8 repetitions/set is a good number for muscle hypertrophy.

If you go for less repetitions- which means heavier weights- you are aiming for muscle strength.

Conversely if you go for more repetitions- lighter weights- muscle endurance will be what you will get!

But beware! Do not buy into the myth that lots of repetitions will lead to muscle definition. You will lose your time!

For muscle definition you will have to focus on body composition improvement. In other words you should lower your body fat percentage.
